About Me

Hello and Bright Blessings!

I’m Helen. My pronouns are they/them/theirs. I’m a Master of Divinity student at Starr King School for the Ministry and a single parent to an amazing child. I’m from Knoxville, Tennessee and I currently live in Tallahassee, Florida where I serve a Unitarian Universalist congregation as a religious educator.

I studied social work for years, which has informed my work as a religious educator as well as my goals for my ministry. Those goals include promoting behavioral health as a component of spiritual health, and both as elements of holistic wellness, creating a model for a UU-based addiction recovery group, addressing religious and spiritual trauma inflicted by outdated, patriarchal, cis-heteronormative structures, and nurturing the concept and creation of Rev. Dr. King’s Beloved Community.

I am proud to be a Unitarian Universalist Pagan with a love of poetry, an abiding curiosity for the mystical, and a deep appreciation for the lessons of many teachers – from Jalaluddin Rumi to Andrea Gibson to the brilliant and beautiful children and youth I get to work with.

I firmly believe we are all one
and we all have the right to live a life we love.

So far, what I have learned on this journey can be summarized by this:

Honor your Truth.
Honor your Divine nature.
Honor your inner Child.
Honor the same in All.

And I am looking forward to learning so much more.
